Agenda 2025: Current Wine Festivals in Portugal

All fests & tastings in one place

From castle courtyards to Atlantic vineyards, Portugal spends the back half of the year in a near-constant toast. August kicks off with jazz echoing through Palmela’s medieval walls and ends with Madeira’s grape-stained harvest parades.

By September, the Douro is in full pageant mode, Alenquer is stomping grapes like it’s an Olympic sport, and riverside tastings pop up in places that feel too pretty to be real. Come autumn, the circuit tightens: fortified strongholds in Gaia, sprawling Lisbon trade fairs, Alentejo towns trading amphora secrets, and sparkling finales in Melgaço. Some festivals are all-day affairs with brass bands and late-night DJs; others are slow, church-hushed tastings that reward patience and a clean palate.

Together, they form a map of Portugal’s wine culture—messy, generous, and impossible to see in one season unless you’re prepared to swap your suitcase for a wine crate.
